Ora A. Littlefield

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — Ora A. Littlefield, 79, died Wednesday, August 31 in Anchorage, Alaska.

She was born on the 15th of October, 1932 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Over the years she and her family traveled the U.S. but she remained a Texan at heart.Ora was a longtime resident of Raymond Village in Maine, arriving in 1959 to live on Sebago Lake with her husband Arthur (1930–2002) and three children, Kenneth, Sherry and Janice.

While living in Maine she was a dedicated caregiver at the Pineland Hospital. After retirement Ora gave freely of her time, caring for her father and mother-in-law Clifford and Audrey Littlefield. Never one to sit still, you could find her and second husband Bill Brown walking Monhegan Island, playing softball with granddaughter Jessica or watching the races at Oxford Plains! You just never knew what she would be up to next!

She traveled to Southern Europe after a long illness and there she enjoyed sightseeing, foods, shopping and walking around different towns and places. She even insisted on visiting the city of Pamplona in Spain following Hemingway’s writings.

Later in life Ora lived near her daughter Janice in the little southern town of Dudley, North Carolina. Then she heard the call of the wild and moved to Alaska. Bears and moose out the front window! What a life!

Ora is survived by her three children: Kenneth and wife Mercedes, living in Muscat, Oman; Sherry and husband Michael, living in Anchorage, Alaska; and Janice and husband Sam, living in Dudley, North Carolina. Her granddaughter Jessica and husband Eric, along with great-grandsons Daniel and Kyle live in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in Anchorage Alaska. We will remember her driving fast, watching planes and birds from her front porch, playing Scrabble, watching Nascar races on Sundays and reading all the papers.

We love you, Mom.
