Omar Pollock, 46

Omar Pollock, 46, of Harrison passed away peacefully at Hospice of Southern Maine on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, surrounded by his family, after succumbing to cancer.

Omar was born April 13, 1972 in New Haven, Conn. and was a Connecticut native until moving to Maine five years ago. Omar was an amazing and creative chef and worked at many top restaurants in Connecticut over the years. He had been a chef at 302 West Smokehouse & Tavern in Fryeburg and at Nancy’s Sports Bar in Naples at the time of his illness. Italian cuisine was his specialty.

Omar was an avid fisherman and a fan of classic hip-hop and rap music. Although at heart an urban dweller who was devoted to the life and friends he had in New Haven, he had come to truly appreciate the quiet and peaceful life he found living in Harrison and the natural beauty of his home in the hills overlooking Crystal Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon Jobbagy of Harrison; his son, Omar John Pollock of Harrison; his son, Shawn Jobbagy of Bridgeport, Conn.; his mother, Christina Pollock of Harrison; and his father, John Pollock of Harrison.

A celebration of life is planned, for a time to be announced, after the first of the year.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route 1, Scarborough, ME 04074.
