Olive J. Tripp

LEWISTON — Olive Jenice (Malier) Tripp, 75, of Lewiston died on March 13, 2012 at the Hospice House after a long illness.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1936, the daughter of the late John and Grace Malier. She married Wheeler D. Tripp with whom she spent many wonderful years until his passing.

She provided a good home for her family. She babysat for many of her grandchildren. She enjoyed family get-togethers, and spending holidays cooking and buying gifts for her family. She was especially famous for her molasses cookies. She loved playing cards and Pokeno with family and friends. She enjoyed shopping trips with her daughters. Later in life, she enjoyed trying new restaurants with her friend, John.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and her brother, John Malier.

Survivors include two brothers, Patrick and Theodore Malier of Lewiston; five sisters, Dorothy Rolfe of Casco, Sylvia Swanson of Casco, Josephine Malier of Troy, Pa., Barbara Malier Gurney of Poland and Pamela Komulainen of South Paris; seven children, Gary Tripp of Auburn, Colby Tripp of Lewiston, Dale Tripp of Lewiston, Joyce Richardson of Lewiston, Janet St. Pierre of Lewiston, Linda Dulac of Auburn and Valerie Tripp of Winthrop; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

According to her wishes, no funeral will be held. A committal service will take place in the spring at Highland Cemetery, Poland.
