FRYEBURG — Dan Nowell will be taking over the roll of Public Works Director for the Town of Fryeburg.

Nowell, who started his new position in early January of this year, was picked from among a pool of sixteen applicants, according to Town Manager Sharon Jackson.

Nowell has had a history of serving as a public works director for not only the Town of Paris from January 2011 to 2014, but also the Town of Sebago from 2007 to 2011. He also worked with the Bridgton Public Works Department for nearly 17 years.

Nowell was also a reserve police officer in the Town of Fryeburg during the earlier part of the 2000s and was a patrolman in the town of Bridgton, where he currently resides.

Selectmen and Town Manager Jackson congratulated Nowell on his new role and welcomed him to the position.

“We’re still getting settled in,” Nowell said at the Jan. 22 selectmen’s meeting. He said his first impressions were “so far, so good.”
