November Rotary Club Good Citizen of the Month: Rebecca Mowatt

Rebecca Mowatt has been selected as the Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club’s “Citizen of the Month” for November.

Each month, the Rotary Club recognizes a Lake Region High School student who displays good citizenship and contributes to the school community. The recipient is honored at a Rotary breakfast meeting and is presented a savings bond.

Sibling: Adam Mowatt

Activities: Skiing, National Honors Society

Community activities: Volunteering (Red Cross blood drives, community dinners, etc.)

Hobbies: Reading, sewing and cooking

Future plans: To go onto college and receive a (BSN) Registered Nurse degree.

Schools that you have or will apply: St. Joseph’s College of Maine, University of Southern Maine and Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing.

What is your favorite class? RM. My favorite class is Anatomy and Physiology because I enjoy learning the basic knowledge of this class for my future career in nursing.

What is your toughest class? RM. My toughest class is physics because there are many different equations and steps to keep track of.

How do you balance your class work and your extracurricular activities? RM. I make sure that I set enough time to complete my homework and also allow study time. While working with my extracurricular activity schedule.

What is the biggest challenge high school students’ face today? RM. The biggest challenge I feel that students face today is taking on too much that they can’t handle and overwhelming themselves.

Who has inspired you educationally? RM. My family, they have given me support throughout high school and have encouraged me to further my education to become an RN.
