Norman W. Spear Jr., 91

SOUTH PARIS — Norman W. Spear Jr., 91, of Bridgton, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

He was born in Biddeford on Dec. 24, 1923, a son of Norman W. Spear Sr. and Irma Ayers Spear. He faithfully served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He earned a Master’s degree in Education and taught Math and Science at Lake Region High School for many years. He married Thelma King on April 14, 1957. He was Past Master of the Masonic Oriental Lodge #13 in Bridgton, a member of the Maine Obsolete Automobile League and a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association.

He is survived by his son Brian Spear and companion Carolynn Andrea, granddaughter Chantel Spear, great-granddaughter Callie; daughter Norma Rugg and husband Chris, grandson Chris Bartlett and wife Brittany, great-grandsons Brandon and Noah Bartlett; granddaughter Amanda Swan and husband Andrew, great-granddaughters Aleah Swan and Chelsey Harrison and husband Ben; sister Phylis Williams of Old Orchard Beach; sister-in-law Kay Spear of Old Orchard Beach; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife.
