CASCO — Neal A. Dow, 73, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Maine Medical Center. He was born on April 9, 1941, in Auburn, to Ruby M. (Bradley) Dow and Neal C. Dow.
Neal graduated from Edward Little High School in 1959, and USM, Gorham in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. He began his teaching career in Windham. Later he became Music Director of Falmouth High School. After moving to Casco in 1976, he became Music Director of Gray-New Gloucester High School. He was choir director of Windham Hill UCC until 1977, and then became the choir director at Casco Village Church, where he directed the choir for 22 years.
Neal played in numerous dance bands including “23rd State¸” “Brass on Ivory,” and “The Neal Dow Band” at Poland Spring Resort. His life, spare time and hobbies revolved around music of all kinds.
He was a classic car enthusiast and through the years he owned several vintage cars. His happiest times were spent with all of his family around him.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years, NancyLee (Mitchell) Dow; daughter, Kathleen (Dow) Charlebois and her husband Matthew of Raymond; son Scott Alan Dow of Casco; daughter Kellie (Dow) Sampson and her husband Michael of Harrison; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of his life will be held at Casco Village Church on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at 1 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at hallfuneralhomeinc.com
