Nathalie H. Lombard, 87

CASCO — Nathalie H. Lombard, 87, of Casco passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Casco on May 30, 1925, the daughter of Fred C. Hanscom and Dorothy H. Curtis.

Nat grew up on Pleasant Lake. She lived her whole life in Casco. After marrying Wesley Lombard, they moved to Tenney Hill. After his death, she and her daughter moved to Cold Springs Road, where she lived for 44 years.

She was always been involved with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 155, as well as the Naples and Casco Grange. She was also a longtime supporter of Lake Region sports teams, attending as many events as possible. She was the Monday and Tuesday night bowling league treasurer for Beacon Lanes in Raymond, a 4-H member and served on the board of directors for the Peoples Regional Opportunity Program for nine years.

She ran the food pantry in Casco for 11 years and belonged to the PTA and the Health Council.

She attended the Army Cadet Nursing Corps at Mercy Hospital in Portland. She worked at the Bridgton Knitting Mill in Bridgton and the Job Corps Nursing in Poland. She was postmaster at South Casco Post Office and also worked at Point Sebago Resort for 20 years as a security guard and supervisor of housekeeping. She worked as a Casco ballot clerk and was an active member of the Casco Alliance Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Toppa Sims; her two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; her sister, A. Josie Morrell; and numerous other family members.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 with a reception hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary.

In lieu of flowers, she has requested that donations may be made in her name to Lake Region Athletics, (c/o Paul True), at Lake Region High School, Naples, ME 04055.
