Naples man seriously injured in crash

NAPLES — A Naples man was seriously injured early Monday morning when his vehicle went off Route 302 and crashed in the Naples Shopping Center parking lot.

Keegan C. Eldridge, 25, was found unconscious by a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office deputy following the 1:40 a.m. crash.

Eldridge was transported to the Bridgton Hospital with a serious head injury, and he was then transported by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

A caller reported that a vehicle crashed into a snow bank at the Naples Shopping Center parking lot. Police say Eldridge was operating a 2010 Volvo wagon westbound on Route 302. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and into the ditch area before striking the embankment to the Shopping Center’s entrance and became airborne. The vehicle came down and then struck a large sign post causing the vehicle to spin around.

Eldridge was the only occupant in the vehicle. It appears speed was a factor and that Eldridge was not wearing his seatbelt, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
