LEWISTON — Milton “Wayne” Benoit, 77, of Bridgton, formerly of South Berwick, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born on Nov. 1, 1937, in South Berwick, a son of Alcide and Dorothy (Durgin) Benoit. He attended local schools, graduating from Berwick Academy in 1957.

For many years he owned and operated Benoit’s Welding in South Ber-wick, retiring to Bridgton in 1980 for the love of the area and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, boating, four-wheeling, woodworking, and seafood.

Wayne is survived by his children, Robin van Wallenburg and her husband Hans of Dover, N.H., Marc Benoit and his wife Pamela of South Berwick, and Jody Benoit and his wife Holly of Sanford; a sister, Mary Benoit of Rochester, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander, Amber, Jesse, Ryan, Jodi, Abbi, Alan-Michael and Brooke; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Theresa Benoit of Rochester, N.H.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Helen Benoit in 1992; siblings, Leon, Irving and Alicia Benoit; and a granddaughter Tamra Benoit.

Private family services will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery in South Berwick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot Street, Bridgton, ME 04009.
