CLOUD, FLA. — Millard C. Nadeau (Bill), 88, passed away peacefully on Aug. 25, 2015.

He was born in Crystal, on Oct. 26, 1926, the son of William and Elva Nadeau.

He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Korean conflict. He was an instructor at West Point for engineers.

After returning from the service, he met his current wife Evelyn (Smith) Nadeau. They were married for 62 years. Between them, they had five children and one son from a previous marriage.

He retired twice. He worked for Profenno Construction as a crane operator for 42 years. In the winters, he worked as snowplow driver for Jack Viola. He retired and moved to Clearwater, Fla., in 1989. There, he went back to work for Tampa Bay Machinery, where he finally retired at the age of 84. He was rewarded with employee of the month several times. “He was up on the roof fixing the A/C at age 84 when he was suppose to receive the award at a luncheon.”

In his younger years, he enjoyed building and anything he could fix, he would. He built a dollhouse in the backyard for his daughters, then later on, one for his granddaughter. He built the first steel houses in Maine for the True family.

Bill was predeceased by his parents; sons David and Ronald Nadeau; siblings Frances and Lawrence Nadeau, and a sister Geneva Nash.

He has one living brother, Raymond Nadeau of Bath.

He is also survived by his wife, Evelyn; two sons, Michael of Portland and Millard of South Casco; two daughters, Karen Langella of Florida and Diane Gagne of Cornville; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Maine Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, following a celebration of his life at 1029 Tasker Road, Augusta.
