FREEPORT — Mildred (Millie) Louise Oliver Richardson, 83, of Freeport, formerly of Gorham and South Portland, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Hawthorne House after a long progressive illness.

Millie was born in Bath on June 12, 1930, the daughter of Madeline and Clarence Oliver. She was a 1948 graduate of Morse High School and a 1953 graduate of Gorham State Teachers College. She married Keith Richardson and together they raised two sons, Scott and Jay. She taught kindergarten and first grades in Gorham and Windham until her retirement. She then worked part time at Owen Moore and the Carriage Lantern in South Portland.

She enjoyed entertaining at the family camp on Bear Pond in Turner and snowmobiling from the camp at Oquossoc. Millie’s many hobbies included cooking, shopping, bingo, and all kinds of crafts. In the last few years, she kept herself busy creating beaded jewelry and dishcloths.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Keith; her parents; and her only sister, Barbara Weeks.

She is survived by her two sons, Scott L. Richardson of Bowdoinham and Jay Richardson of Baldwin; a grandson; two step-granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two special nephews.

A visiting hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, with a funeral service at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 4, at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial will at the Eastern Cemetery in Gorham. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hobbsfuneralhome.com
