Michael S. Boyle, 62

FRYEBURG — Michael S. Boyle, 62, died peacefully on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015.

Born Oct. 21, 1953 in Needham, Mass., he lived his last years in Fryeburg.

He graduated from Needham High School. Michael served in the Army 1971-1974 in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1974.

He lived a full and adventurous life hiking the Appalachian Trail in high school and then moving to Alaska and later Canada. He raised malamutes, and managed a 75-dog kennel raising dogs for musher to race in Manitoba, Canada. He belonged to the Voyagers Club. He raced in the “Return of the Northern Packet,” December of 1981, delivering mail as they did in the original packet before 1853; a 350-mile, eight-day route from Norway House and lower Fort Gary commemorating Selkirk’s Centennial.

He was predeceased by his father, Raymond F. Boyle.

He is survived by his mother, Carole Boyle Sargent of South Portland; sisters, Jeanne Andrade, Julie O’Baoighill of Minneapolis, Minn. and Carrie Rose Long of Gorham; and brother, John V. Boyle of Portland. He will be surely missed by family and friends.
