Mavis Dion

LANESBORO, MINN. — Mavis Dion, 67, of Lanesboro, Minn. and formerly of Harrison, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 of ALS at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where she had resided since Jan. 4, 2012.

Mavis Ann Danielson was born March 29, 1944 in Waukon, Iowa to Hiram and Lillie (Honsey) Danielson. She graduated from Canton High School in Canton, Minn. and attended Medical Lab Assistant School in Minneapolis. Mavis worked at Fairview University Hospital for 25 years. She was married to Dennis Dion and later divorced. She had lived in rural Lanesboro, St. Paul and back to Lanesboro the last two years. Mavis was active in the Lutheran Church, and enjoyed crafts, knitting, sewing, bobbin lace and most of all her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Chris Dion of Millville, N.J. and Shawn Dion of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren; five brothers, Carrol Danielson of Lanesboro, Gary Danielson of Lanesboro, Ron Danielson of Lanesboro, Dennis Danielson of Rushford and Michael Danielson of Austin; six sisters, Sharon Mickelson of Harmony, Janet Burdick of Chanhassen, Julie Jensson of Lanesboro, Helen Edmundson of Ramsey, Susie Bradley of Lanesboro and Lolly Kessel of Lanesboro; many nieces and nephews.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents and a great-niece.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro. The funeral was held on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 with Rev. Kerry Eversole officiating. Burial was in Henrytown Lutheran Cemetery in rural Canton, Minn. following the services.
