SOUTH PARIS — Maurice Eugene Hilligoss, 91, of South Paris, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

He was born in Rush County, Ind., on Dec. 3, 1921, the son of Cyrus and Lillian Benton Hilligoss. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1940, and was a Pearl Harbor survivor.

Maurice married Anita McDaniel on Dec. 21, 1946, in Shelbyville, Ind. He worked in the body shop at Ripley & Fletcher Co., for many years.

He is survived by his wife of Norway; his children, Nora Barker of Stoneham, Brenda Bailey of Norway, Tim Hilligoss of West Paris and Sheila Fickett of Minnesota; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a niece, and a great-nephew, both of Indiana.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Cedric Cyrus; and a sister, Juanita Lorene.

Graveside services were held on Monday, Sept. 16 at the Waters Hill Cemetery in Livermore.

Arrangements are under the care of Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main Street, Oxford.
