SOUTH PORTLAND — Maureen P. (Lowe) VanOver, 68, of South Portland, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at her home with her family by her side.
Maureen was born on Aug. 7, 1946, in Portland to Burleigh and Halina (Szczepanski) Lowe. She graduated from South Portland High School, Class of 1964.
On Aug. 12, 1967, she married William VanOver. Together, they shared 47 years of marriage.
For over 20 years, Maureen worked with local Hallmark Stores. She also volunteered at Mercy Hospital and later managed the hospital Gift Shop. A communicant of St. John and Holy Cross Parish, Maureen was actively involved in the St. John’s Choir for many years.
Maureen was predeceased by her mother, Halina Lowe.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, William VanOver of South Portland; father, Burleigh Lowe of South Portland; daughters, Ingrid VanOver Smith of Simpsonville, S.C. and Cristin Michele Plaisted of Rochester, N.H.; son, Jonathan William VanOver of Westbrook; a grandson; brothers, Michael Lowe of Naples and Christopher Lowe of Weston, Mass.
Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway. Prayers were recited at the chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 followed by an 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland.
