Matthew N. Lessard, 30

Matthew Lessard

LUDOWICI, GA. — Matthew Normand Lessard, 30, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, in Georgia.

Born on Feb. 25, 1986 in Portland, Matthew was raised by his sister, Cynthia Terry, and her husband, Dean, after his mother’s death when he was six years old. Matthew graduated from Elan School in Poland in 2003 and joined the United States Army. He was a disabled veteran, who served proudly in Iraq and was stationed at Fort Stuart, Ga.

Matthew was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed auto mechanics, video gaming, video editing, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Fishing and talking about fishing were his passion, as well as his personal therapy. He hated to be referred to as “Uncle” because he was within a few years of age to his nieces and nephews.

Matthew had a goofy sense of humor, not understood by many, because he was brilliant.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and close friends, specifically his friend and mentor, Sgt. Orlando Hillard and his wife, Christina.

Matthew was predeceased by his mother, Linda J. Lessard.

He is survived by his father, Normand J. Lessard of Casco; his siblings, Jay Greeley of Casco, Ted Greeley of Raymond, Cynthia Terry of Raymond and Michelle Kearns of Limington; five nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

Services and reception will be held at the Raymond Village Community Church, at 27 Main Street, Raymond on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. A burial service for family will take place in the spring.
