DUNDEE, NEW YORK — Mary H. Nickerson, 88, of Dundee, N.Y., formerly of Vernon-Rockville, Conn., died Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Sunset House in Dundee, N.Y.

Mary was born Oct. 7, 1926, in North Conway, N.H., the daughter of the late Warren F. and Georgie M. Nichols Haley. She graduated from Fryeburg Academy, in Fryeburg Maine in 1944 and went on to receive her R.N. degree from Springfield College. On April 11, 1948, in North Conway, N.H., she married the late Charles L. Nickerson, who passed away in 1984. She has lived locally since July of 2011, previously living in Rockville, Conn., for more than 60 years, where she was employed as a Registered Nurse at Rockville Hospital.

A loving mother and grandmother, she will be missed by her six surviving children: Carol Nickerson of Champaign, Ill., Robin N. (Lester) Travis of Himrod, N.Y., Nancy N. (Richard) Chase of Pomfret Center, Conn., C. Peter (Anne) Nickerson of Ellington, Conn., Stephen D. (Arlene) Nickerson of Franktown, Colo., Bruce R. Nickerson of Glastonbury, Conn.; and 10 grandchildren: Adam (Natalie) Travis, Seth Travis, Stephanie Nickerson, Heidi and Geoffrey Nickerson, James, Thomas, and Savannah Nickerson, Jacob, and Audrey Chase; a great-grandson, Landon Monroe Travis; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Holly S. Nickerson, in 1983.

Honoring the family’s wishes there are no prior calling hours. A private graveside service will be held in Grove Hill Cemetery, 22 Cemetery Ave., Vernon-Rockville, Conn., at the family's convenience.
