Mary E. (Pike) Loeffler

PORTLAND — Mary Elizabeth (Pike) Loeffler, 81, of Standish and Osteen, Fla., passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on March 22, 1931, to Elmer and Alice Pike of Gorham. She was the middle child of seven. She valued family above all else.

She graduated Gorham High School in 1949, proud to be a ’49er. On Friday, March 13, 1953, Mary married the love of her life, John Loeffler. They raised four children.

Whether driving across the country with her husband or excursions with her children, Mary enjoyed a good “road trip” filled with laughter. Any time with her family was time well spent. She made sure to spend time with her brothers and sister at their camps or the bowling alley. She was well known for sending birthday and anniversary cards to her extended family and friends. It was her way of staying connected.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, John; and sister, Marion Morton.

She is survived by her brothers, Kenneth Pike of Sebago, Stanley Pike of Brewster, Mass., Willard Pike of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Earl Pike of Casco and Carl of Gorham; her children, Vicki (Loeffler) Michaud of Hollis, Sandra (Loeffler) Wright, Eric Loeffler and Marcia (Loeffler) Parmenter, all of Limington; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and the very soon to be great-grandchild.

To honor Mary’s wishes, there was a celebration of life gathering on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at the Old Standish Lodge, 22 Ossipee Trail West, in Standish. A private burial will be held at a later date at The Dow Cemetery, Cape Road, Standish. Arrangements are by the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham.
