NAPLES — Mary E. Anderson, 54, of Naples, passed away at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

She was born in Portland on Nov. 8, 1961, to parents Richard T. and Dorothy R. (McGowen) Anderson Sr.

Mary loved animals, and enjoyed volunteering at area animal shelters. She also donated every month to the Wounded Warrior Project. She liked to watch both NASCAR and golf. Mary also loved children, and very much loved babysitting her nieces and nephews. Mary also enjoyed gardening.

She worked briefly for GTE as a quality control inspector, and worked for many years as a personal care assistant in nursing homes. Mary provided care for her own mother for 10 years.

She is survived by four brothers, Richard T. Jr. of Westbook, Robert R. of Bridgton, James M. of Falmouth and Charles W. of Windham; four sisters, Dorothy R. Smith of Naples, Lora L. Carr of Bridgton, Julie Hoffman of Portland and Kristen Whitham of Portland; her stepmother, Katherine Anderson of Portland; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her parents.

A memorial service will be held for Mary at the Casco Alliance Church, 450 Roosevelt Trail, Casco, on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 1 p.m. Condolences may be expressed at www.funeralalternatives.net
