Martin W. Jensen

WESTBROOK — Martin W. Jensen, 77, of Westbrook, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough with his family by his side.

He was born in Westbrook, the son of Alex and Marion (Smith) Jensen. Martin served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked at the S.D. Warren Paper Co. for 40 years and for M.W.J. Electric from 1967 to 1995. For the past 15 years, Martin worked for the Portland Sea Dogs selling programs. He took great joy in this position and became a welcome fixture at the ballpark, until this year when his health prevented him from working.

Martin was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department, Engine 1 for many years. He was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., the D.A.V., and served as the president of the Westbrook Band Boosters for several years. He was also an avid bowler.

Martin was predeceased by his wife, C. Patricia (Norton) Jensen in 2008.

He is survived by his stepmother, Virginia Lubbert of Buxton; four daughters, Terri Burton of Westbrook, Kathi Jensen of Sebago, Sally Lockley of Glen Burnie, Md. and Mary Maloney of Grovetown, Ga.; two sons, Paul Jensen of Naples and Peter Jensen of Westbrook; one brother, James Jensen of Westbrook; three sisters, Astrid Meggison of Westbrook, Anne Wells of Albuquerque, N.M. and Karen Kilmer of Buxton; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours were on Wednesday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Anthony’s Church, Brown Street, Westbrook. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
