Marion L. Morton

CASCO — Marion Louise Morton, 81, a former longtime Windham resident, died on Oct. 10, 2011, at Country Village Assisted Living in Casco.

Born in Westbrook on March 3, 1930, she was the daughter of Elmer E. and Alice M. (Brock) Pike. She was raised and educated in Gorham and was a 1948 graduate of Gorham High School.

Marion was employed by the Union Mutual Insurance Company of Portland for seven years before becoming a full-time homemaker.

As a young girl, she was a member of the Camp Fire Girls. As an adult, she was a former member of the Rebekah’s and the Land-O-Lakes Garden Club.

From 1986 until 1999, Marion and her husband wintered in Florida, and for the next few years wintered in Greensboro, Ga., until the passing of her husband in 2004. From that point on, Marion made her home in Casco.

She enjoyed reading, camping and traveling and loved flowers.

Marion was born the third child of a third child, on the third day of the third month in the 30th year, and had three children.

Her husband, George P. Morton Jr., predeceased her on Sept. 8, 2004.

Survivors include her three children, David P. Morton of Casco, Becky L. Blake of Otisfield and Russell G. Morton of Casco; five brothers, Kenneth E. Pike of Sebago, Stanley G. Pike of Massachusetts, Willard E. Pike of Arizona, Earl C. Pike of Casco and Carl E. Pike of Gorham; a sister, Mary E. Loeffler of Florida; four grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visiting hour was held on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, from 1 until 2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham.
