Marilyn L. Barry, 83

NAPLES — Marilyn L.  (Langford) Barry, 83, passed away unexpectedly at her Naples home on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013.

Born on a farm in Viola, Ill. on June 5, 1929, she was a daughter of Frederick L. and Verle (Terrey) Langford. Marilyn was a 1951 graduate of Monmouth College (Ill.), and for several years taught elementary school in rural Knoxville, Illinois.

In 1956, she and her husband, William D. Barry, moved to Newton, Mass., where they raised a family before moving to Naples in 1985.

In addition to her primary vocations as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and devoted friend to many, Marilyn worked for several years as an EKG technician at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts.  In recent years, she dedicated much of her time and energy to serving as a board member of the Naples Community Resource Council and to volunteering at the Council’s Naples Food Pantry.

Marilyn is survived by her children, John F. Barry of Millis, Mass., Lynelle T. Leclair of Gorham, William L. Barry of Naples; and three grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Max Langford and Bruce Langford, as well as by her loving husband of 40 years, William D. (Bill) Barry, who passed away in 1991.

Graveside services will be held in the spring, time and date to be announced.
