Marilyn E. Ducy, 62

Marilyn E. Ducy

WATERFORD — Marilyn Eileen “Mum” Ducy, 62 of Waterford, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 in Country Villa Nursing Home in Murrieta, Calif.

Marilyn was born in Staten Island, N.Y. on Sept. 20, 1950. She graduated from West Orange High School, N.J. in 1968 and continued on to receive a degree in horticulture from the University of Maine.

Marilyn married Gilbert A. Ducy Sr. on Dec. 6, 1969 at Serenity Hill in Gray. They were married 43 wonderful years.

Marilyn had many ventures that she undertook and was successful in all of them. Among those interests, she found herself working as a dental hygienist, hairdresser and worked at Paris Manufacturing in Oxford until 1986. She then decided to go back to school and complete her associate’s degree in horticulture and opened her own successful greenhouse business called Temple Hill Greenhouses in Waterford.

She enjoyed reading her Harlequin romance novels and was very adept at gardening and spending time with her family. She was always in her garden, taking her dogs for a walk, or calling to catch up on the latest gossip with her family and friends. Her last venture was going to school for dog grooming. She already loved animals so it only fit. She had many, many people that came to her because she was kind, really took great care of the animals and made them look great — just like show quality.

Before she went to California, she worked on a dog that night prior, what dedication.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Gilbert Sr.; son Gilbert Jr.; brother George “Andy” Maxwell; sisters Grace Baker, Laurie Mckee and Cynthia Biondi; three grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22 at the South Paris Baptist Church, Park Street, South Paris. Pastor Kevin Smart will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 22.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by Inland Memorial Chapel in Hemet, California, where Gilbert Jr. will be taking possession of her remains and housing them at his house in Murrieta, Calif.
