NAPLES — Margaret “Maggie” Joyce Gammon Shaskan Chute Poulin, 77, passed away on Sept. 10, 2015, after a brief illness.

Maggie was born May 19, 1938, in Mars Hill, the daughter of T.G. and Dora Gammon. She attended schools in Dover-Foxcroft, graduating from Foxcroft Academy in 1956, and she graduated in 1960 with a degree in Home Economics from Farmington Normal School (UMF). For several years she taught second grade in Dover-Foxcroft. Maggie married her first husband, George A. Shaskan in 1959. They had two children, Susan Shaskan Arenstam of Plymouth, Mass., and David L. Shaskan of Cape Elizabeth. After George's sudden death, Maggie married Philip C. Chute of Naples. Together they ran The Chute Homestead on Long Lake. When Philip passed away, Maggie married her college sweetheart, Raymond J. Poulin, of Waterville, and they resided in Naples for 10 years. Maggie enjoyed gardening, book club, Tai Chi, and entertaining her friends and family.

She was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Eldridge. She is survived by her brother E. Eugene Gammon of Englewood, Fla.; and sisters Doris Coy of Dover-Foxcroft and Helen Brown of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She leaves two beloved granddaughters, Hannah Arenstam of Chicago, Ill., and Abigail Arenstam of Plymouth, Mass. In addition, Maggie dearly loved her five stepchildren, eleven step-grandchildren and her namesake step-great-granddaughter. Her dog, Sophie brought her great joy. Maggie's family would like to thank the Hospice of Southern Maine and everyone who surrounded her with loving care.
