NAPLES — Louise Lucia Chaplin, 92, of Naples, peacefully left this earth at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 16, 2013.

She was born Nov. 28, 1920 in North Bridgton at the home of her grandparents, Frank and Clara Lincoln Chadbourne. Louise was the daughter of Frank and Ethel Chadbourne Burnell. She grew up in Sandy Creek and went to school there, graduating from Bridgton High School, Class of 1939.

She married Myron Chaplin on March 11, 1940 and lived in Naples for the last 73 years. They raised seven children together.

Being the consummate caregiver that Louise was, she was always willing to take another under her wing, including special neighbors and friends. She had a love of poetry and wrote many poems. She enjoyed all of nature’s gifts, especially bird watching.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters Clara Butterfield and Julia Austin; her brothers Lincoln, Walter and Irving Burnell; her husband Myron; son Melvin Chaplin; a granddaughter and great-grandson.

Surviving are her sisters, Barbara Perry and Abbie Winslow; daughters, Wanda Graffam, Judith Johnson, Katherine Allen, Alta Rice and Leta Cross; a son, Phillip Chaplin; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held on Sunday, May 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road, Casco. A graveside service was held on Monday, May 20 at 1 p.m. at the Chaplin Cemetery on Chaplin Mills Road, Naples.
