Lorraine J. Levesque, 68

PORT ORANGE, FLA. — Lorraine J. Levesque, 68, of Port Orange, Fla., went to the Lord, Sunday, March 3, 2013 after a very courageous nine-month battle with leukemia.

Lorraine was born in Lewiston, June 2, 1944, the daughter of Romeo P. and Anita Bernier Lajoie. She graduated from Sabattus High School (1962) and Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion in Lewiston (1963). Lorraine enjoyed a successful career spanning almost 50 years as the owner and operator of Levesque’s Beauty Nook in Lewiston. She had a private practice in Florida for 12 years until she retired due to health reasons.

On Feb. 8, 1964, she married her best friend and love of her life, Ronald Levesque, at Our Lady of Rosary in Sabattus. Lorraine had a bubbly personality and brought joy and laughter to all of her friends. One always enjoyed a visit with Lorraine.

She owned the title of “The Person Who Liked to Shop The Most” and it has never been challenged. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends and dining out was one of her favorite things to do. In her business career, she always said that a difference between a good haircut and a great haircut was two weeks of growth.

She will be missed by all of her friends, but especially the Golden Girls: Lorraine Picard, Diane Tremblay, Charlene Flaherty and Rosalie Beaulieu. With that group, there never was a dull moment but many laughable memories.

Lorraine was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 3282 of Port Orange and a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Port Orange, Fla.

She leaves her son, Jeffrey of Port Orange, Fla.; her daughter, Patricia of Monmouth; a granddaughter; her sisters, Diane Walker of Sabattus, Linda Messier of Monmouth and Debra “Debbie” Lajoie-Sylvia of Bowdoinham; and brother, Daniel Edward Lajoie of Naples.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ronnie in 2007; and an infant sister, Judith.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to UCP/WORC, 1100 Jimmy Ann Drive, Daytona Beach, FL 32117.
