Lisa Lane

BROWNFIELD — Lisa H. Lane, 61, of Brownfield, died Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Jan. 21, 1956, in Biddeford, the daughter of Robert Gerard and Suzanne Gisele (Dupont) Lacroix. She attended local schools, graduating from Thornton Academy and later Westbrook College with a degree in business.

On Oct. 11, 1997, in Kennebunkport, she married Robert M. Lane, whom she met at the University of New England, where they both worked.

She and Robert lived in South Portland for several years, all the while keeping a fifth-wheel camper at a site in Brownfield, where they longed to build a home. In 2003, that dream came true and they enjoyed their new home, commuting to and from UNE everyday, where she worked for many years as the assistant director of admissions for the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Nearing retirement, she set her sights on Arizona and they recently purchased a home there to leave the New England weather behind and be close to her stepson and grandchildren.

Lisa was passionate about many things and near the top were the love of travel throughout the United States, camping, fishing, organic vegetable gardening, the company of her family, and most recently her work with Long Journey Animal Rescue.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of Brownfield; and stepson, Robert Neil and his wife and their two children, all of Glendale, Ariz.

She was predeceased by her parents.

At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are in the care of the Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren Street, Fryeburg.

Gifts may be given in her memory to Long Journey Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 364, Fryeburg, ME 04037.
