Nick Ball

Nick Ball of Naples has been selected as the area Lions Clubs’ “Student of the Month” for May.

Each month, area Lions Clubs recognize a Lake Region High School senior who has excelled academically. The recipient is honored at a Lions’ dinner meeting and is presented a monetary award.

Activities: Varsity soccer, JV basketball, varsity baseball, National Honors Society.

Community activities: Casco Days volunteer, youth soccer and basketball camps.

Hobbies: Sports, friends

Future plans: Four-year college and find a job thereafter.

Schools that you have been accepted to: Going to the University of Maine at Orono.

What is your favorite class? Physics, because it explains how everything works and the class is fairly laid back.

What is your toughest class? Calculus, because the concepts are hard to understand sometimes.

How do you balance your class work and your extracurricular activities? I try to manage my time the best I can, sometimes at the cost of a few hours of sleep.

What is the biggest challenge high school students face today? Definitely, balancing schoolwork, sports, friends and other outside of school activities.

Who has inspired you educationally? My mom has always told me the importance of good grades, but I’ve always been very self-motivated.
