Lions’ Student of Month: Kathryn Cutting

Kathryn Cutting of Sebago has been selected as the area Lions Clubs’ “Student of the Month” for January.

Each month, area Lions Clubs recognize a Lake Region High School senior who has excelled academically. The recipient is honored at a Lions’ dinner meeting and is presented a monetary award.

Parents: Jeff and Marie Cutting.

Siblings: Sarah and Hannah.

Activities: National Honor Society, field hockey, basketball, softball, Varsity Club, Math Team, Prom Committee.

Community activities: Volunteer at the Bridgton Dump Store, volunteer at sports camps, volunteered with Safe Passage, Casco and Sebago Days volunteer.

Hobbies: Spending time with family and friends and playing sports.

Future plans: Attend a four-year university to study Nutrition and Dietetics.

Schools that you have or will apply to: University of Maine at Orono, University of New Hampshire, Simmons College, University of Massachusetts-Amherst and University of Rhode Island.

What is your favorite class? KC. Anatomy because it’s interesting to learn about how everything in your body works.

What is your toughest class? KC. AP English because the work is time consuming and sometimes hard to balance in with other homework.

How do you balance your class work and your extracurricular activities? KC. I’m always very organized, and I put my schoolwork before my extracurricular activities.

What is the biggest challenge high school students face today? KC. Staying on task and balancing their activities.

Who has inspired you educationally? KC. My older sisters because they have been role models for me throughout my life. They have taught me a lot by being great students, and they always help me when I need it.
