BRIDGTON — Linwood Eben “Bucky” Buck Jr., 73, of Fryeburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 27 2016, at Bridgton Hospital surrounded by his family.

"Bucky" was born in Lewiston, on Sept. 30, 1943, the son of Linwood Buck Sr. and Lena Pike Buck. After graduating from West Paris High School in 1961, he took a course at the National School of Heavy Equipment in North Carolina. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army via the voluntary draft in 1964, and went on to serve 19 months in Korea. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Buck worked at Penley's Mill in West Paris, as well as Jay Paper Mill in Jay. He then decided to pursue his true passion — farming. He worked at Milligan's Farm in Andover, before moving to Fryeburg in 1971. There, he worked at Riverside Farms and later at Nearfield Farm in East Conway, N.H., for several years. Most recently, Buck worked 26 years as a janitor, and then Head of Maintenance at Fryeburg Academy.

In his free time, he loved to read, tend to his garden, play computer games, and spend time with his family. A true lover of animals, he also enjoyed caring for his many dogs over the years. A beloved and well-respected member of the Fryeburg Community, Buck served for over 20 years on both the Town Planning Board and Budget Committee. He also served on the Appeals Board and was a member of the Fryeburg Fish & Game Association. He was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger years, claiming "Biggest Buck" honors in 1983.

Buck was predeceased by his parents, Linwood Sr., and Lena Buck; his brother Edward; and sister-in-law Janice; brothers-in-law John Pinker and Walter Heikkinen; and nieces Annette and Pamela. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Roberta Buck; his stepdaughter Rachel Crocker; his son Christopher Buck and daughter-in-law Darcy; his sisters Pauline Heikkinen and Virginia Pinker; his sister Martha McCormack and brother-in-law John McCormack; and several nieces and nephews.
