Linda J. Stella, 77

Linda Stella

LEWISTON — Linda Jean Stella passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021.

Linda was born August 31, 1943, in Medford, Mass., and was the youngest
of six children. As a young woman, she worked at the Schraffts Candy
Factory in Chelsea, Mass., until she got married and began raising
a family. The second chapter of her life began when she met the love of
her life Bill, whom she was married to for 30 years until his death
in 2013. They loved to travel and ride motorcycles together and eventually moved to Maine for a quieter, simpler life.

Linda and Bill were true entrepreneurs starting a number of small busi- nesses, most notably was the hot dog wagon outside the AG in Bridgton. Linda was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. You could always see Linda at her grandchildren’s sports activities, school and church plays, birthday celebrations — she rarely missed a one. Her favorite recording artist was Kenny Rogers, and she took the words of one of her favorite songs to heart, The Gambler. Many a family member lost when they called her bluff during family poker night. She often won on the “piggy” slot machine at the local casino. Linda loved the holidays, mostly Christmas and was known for her collection of animated Christmas toys and lights. She loved going to the movies and her favorite TV show was General Hospital.

Our mother put everyone else above herself — always. It did not matter what it was. Besides being selfless, she gave the best hugs. When you were happy, she was there to hug you, when you were sad, she was there to hug you. She was just always there for you. Family came first. She would always say how proud she was of all of us. She used to say, “My children are so smart.” How do you convey the love we have for her in a paragraph, you just cannot. Our hearts are shattered by her passing and our lives will forever be changed.

She is predeceased by her husband, William Stella; son William Stella Jr.; parents, Frank and Catherine Weymouth; her sister, Rita Brown; brothers, Frank Weymouth and Robert Nichols.

Linda is survived by her children, Catherine Clough-Bell and her husband Gary of Harrison, Debra Clough-Thomas and her husband Steve of Harrison, Tracey C. Martin and her husband Jeff of Norway, Richard Clough, and his wife Jessica of Lewiston; her grandchildren, Christina Bell, Edward RadcliffeIV, John Mangiafico, Brittany Dochnahl, Courtney Pooler, Matthew Quinn, Jared Martin, Derek Martin, Nicholas Clough; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Rando of Carver, Mass. and Ruth Roberts of North Attleboro, Mass.; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Weymouth of Acton, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on March 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, March 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
