Libby W. Davis, 61

FRYEBURG — Libby Wiley Davis, 61, passed away the morning of Sept. 15, 2013, at her home in Fryeburg.

She was born on April 16, 1952, in Philadelphia, to Eunice Libby Wiley and John Dexter Wiley. Libby married Millard (Mel) Davis Jr. on  July 19, 1980. He was the love of her life. Later that year she graduated with honors from the University of Maine, following which they bought a house in Fryeburg.

Libby dedicated her life to helping others. She served as a Special Education teacher in Brownfield and Denmark for many years. She loved teaching and helping kids, particularly those that needed help the most. Health problems forced her to leave the job she loved, but would not deter her from assisting others. Libby joined the Good Morning Program in Fryeburg and called the ladies in the program on a daily basis to make sure they were okay. She also volunteered at Memorial Hospital, where she served as a greeter, giving directions and pushing elderly patients in wheelchairs.

Libby was a member of the Merry Maker Card Club.

Libby is survived by her husband of 33 years, Millard Davis Jr.; brother John Leslie Wiley; son Michael Wayne Davis and wife Stephanie; and son Andrew Emerson Davis.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren St., Fryeburg, Maine. Libby will be interred at Austin Bemis Cemetery in Fryeburg Harbor. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Angioma Alliance at http://www.angiomaaliance.org/ and click on the “WAYS TO GIVE” link at the top right of the page. Libby was a moderator on the Angioma Alliance forum, giving advice and support to others who were afflicted by CCMs, a vascular disease often causing brain bleeds.
