Leroy H. Leighton Jr.

LOVELL — Leroy H. Leighton Jr., 85, of Lovell and formerly of Rockland, Mass, died on June 14, 2012 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

He was born in Lawrence, Mass. on Jan. 7, 1927, a son of the late Leroy Leighton and Ruth Battles Leighton Seymour.

After graduating from Boston English High School, he served with the U.S. Army and was part of the occupation of Japan and Korea during World War II. He served in the Naval Reserves during the Korean War.

He was employed as a Quality Control manager at Exide Electronics in Avon, Mass. He was a member of Delta Lodge AF&AM in Braintree, Mass.

Roy enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. After retiring, he moved to Lovell. He and his wife, Susan, traveled to many parts of the world.

Roy leaves his wife of 61 years, Susan (McWilliams) Leighton; a son Richard; a sister Marietta Badger of Florida; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Schulke.

Interment will be at Mt. Hope cemetery in Bangor.
