Leona M. Kay, 90

TOPSHAM — Leona M. Kay, 90, of Topsham, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, in Brunswick.

She was born on July 29, 1924 in Bridgton, the daughter of George E. and Edna D. (Bowler) Bowley.

Leona attended Bridgton High School, and graduated with the class of 1942. She then enrolled at Shaw's Business School, graduating in 1944. On July 8, 1944, she married Stuart W. Kay Jr. in Brunswick.

Leona belonged to the Hawthorne School PTA, and was employed at Bowdoin College as the Secretary to the Director of Facilities and Grounds. She also assisted her husband with his accounting business.

Leona enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She was predeceased by her husband, Stuart W. Kay Jr.; her sister, Edith B. (Bowley) Lewson; and two brothers, Wilfred L. Bowley and George E. Bowley Jr.

Leona is survived by two sons, Stuart W. Kay III (wife Diane), and Scott M. Kay (wife Cindy), both of Topsham; four grandchildren, Stuart W. Kay IV (Bill), Steven M. Kay, Jared S. Kay and Alicia M. Kay; five great-grandchildren, Savannah Slocum, Elijah Slocum, Helena Kay, Odessa Kay and Emmaus Kay; and a sister, Janice A. Chadbourne of Bridgton.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Bridgton.
