Laurna Dingley

CASCO — Laurna M. Dingley, 47, of South Casco, died in Portland on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015.

She was born on a beautiful Sunday morning at Fort George G. Meade military base in Maryland, the daughter of George and Mildred Watkins Dingley. Laurna spent most of her life moving from state to state, starting school in Fairbanks, Alaska, before returning back to her family’s home state of Maine. She grew up working on the family farm, helping wherever she could. At age 12 she joined the Rainbow Girls, where she worked her way to the top, continuing on to the Eastern Star. During her high school years she played varsity softball as a first basemen. Laurna graduated from Lake Region High School in 1986, and soon began her long list of places she worked, including Kmart, Bridgton Hospital, Lake Region School District, and Casco Fire and Rescue. She helped at the family farm whenever she could spare the time.

She was a brilliant woman and if she didn’t have the answer she would find it. Laurna spent countless hours with her beloved grandmother Caroline Hartford-Watkins and grandfather Henry Watkins Sr. Laurna watched countless Boston Celtics games with her uncle Henry (Skip) Watkins.

Surviving are her son Johnathan Fountaine; her parents Mildred and George Dingley; her brother Raymond Dingley; her niece Reannah Dingley; grandson William Alan; and countless friends and family. She will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours will be held at Hall Funeral Home on Dec. 29th from 6 to 8 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Casco Raymond Historical Society, P.O. Box 1055, Raymond, ME 04071, or to the Order of the Eastern Star, Pondicherry #192, Bridgton, ME 04009.
