Laurie McInnis

AUBURN — Laurie J. McInnis, 64, of Bridgton, formerly of Chatham, N.H., died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 21, 2017, at the Hospice House in Auburn after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Laurie was born on Feb. 5, 1953, in Newton, Mass., the eldest daughter of Donald and Norma (Johnson) MacPherson. She attended Walpole, Mass., schools and went on to attend MassBay Community College.

After spending many years vacationing in Chatham, N.H., with family, she met Allen McInnis of Stow. She moved to the area, they married in 1975, and welcomed daughter Allison.

Laurie worked as a secretary at various retail stores in Conway, N.H., for many years, most notably Yield House and The Scottish Lion. Earlier in life, she worked for the McCulloch Co. in Needham, Mass., and interestingly she worked in the formation of Lake Havasu City in Arizona, which she had the pleasure of visiting.

She enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, gardening herbs, bird watching and making crafts to sell in support of Harvest Hills Animal Shelter. A woman of great faith, Laurie s greatest pleasure, however, was daily prayer and the sanctuary of God's creations that surrounded her.

She is survived by her daughter, Allison Bergeron and her husband James, of Bridgton; siblings Paula McInnis of South Paris, and Doug MacPherson of Chatham, N.H.; niece Shannon Valley and her husband Reed, of Denmark; nephew Ben McInnis and his girlfriend Sarah Farrington of Madison, N.H. and grandnephews, Griffin and Angus Thompson of Denmark. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Allen.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Chatham Congregational Church, Rte. 113B, Chatham, N.H. Interment will follow at the Center Chatham

Cemetery. Gifts may be given in Laurie’s memory to Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, 1389 Bridgton Rd., Fryeburg, ME 04037, or to Androscoggin Hospice House, 236 Stetson Rd., Auburn, ME 04210.
