Kenneth R. Stuart, 76

PORTLAND — Kenneth Robert Stuart, 76, of Bridgton, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at Maine Medical Center.

Kenneth was born in Bucksport on Nov. 16, 1938, the son of Robert Burns and Elva Viola (Ivey) Stuart. He attended Portland High School.

For many years, Ken owned and operated Ken’s Kove Lobster Pound in Bridgton. Prior to that, he had worked doing odd jobs in the Bridgton/Harrison area. He had also worked for Holden Light Company in Holden, Mass.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post in Bridgton.

He married Phoebe Rolfe on March 25, 1961. She died on Aug. 5, 2008.

Besides his wife, Ken was also predeceased by a son, Brian Stuart in 1991.

Surviving are three sons, Dan Stuart of Bridgton, Gary Stuart of Bradley and Tom Stuart of Bridgton; two sisters, Judy Carter of Westbrook and Barbara Porter of Burnham; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Saturday, Sept. 12, at Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton, where a memorial service followed. Burial was private. Condolences can be expressed to the family at www.chandlerfunerals.com
