Kendall Hadley, 49

SUMNER — Kendall Hadley, 49, of Sumner passed away on Oct. 3, 2012.

He never lost his humor and love for life even through these last three and a half years of dealing with a disease that evaded a diagnosis.

He was born in Norway on Jan. 27, 1963, the son of Carroll “Cud” and Helen (Warren) Hadley. He attended schools in Sumner and Buckfield, graduating from Buckfield High School in 1981. He went to Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., and earned his two-year trade certificate in electricity. He achieved master electrician status in 1991, and shortly after started his own business, which he ran for 20 years. For the last year, he was employed by Eastern Fire Services.

His greatest enjoyment was doing things with his wife and children, whether playing games, swimming in the pool, going on graduation trips or just sitting around the dinner table, he was in his glory with his family. He was a faithful member of the West Sumner Baptist Church, serving for 27 years as the youth leader, a deacon and as Sunday school superintendent for many years.

As an electrician, he treated every customer as though that customer was his only customer. Many good friendships were developed from customers. He also always enjoyed hunting and never lost his love of playing basketball.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ruth (Wiken) Hadley of Sumner; their five children, Leah of Winona Lake, Ind., Heather Bedard, of Waterford, Brian of Sumner, Todd of Sumner and Marsha of Winona Lake, Ind.; his mother, Helen Hadley of Sumner; sisters, Brenda of South Paris and Karen of Jay; a brother, Brent of Sumner; four nieces; and three nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Carroll Hadley in 1985.

Visiting hours were held on Monday and Tuesday followed by funeral services at the West Sumner Baptist Church. Larry Thurlow officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Pond Cemetery.

For those who wish, memorials in Kendall’s memory may be made to the West Sumner Baptist Church, 854 Main St., Sumner, ME 04292.
