Kathleen Hendrick

CORNISH — Kathleen “Katty” Hendrick, 88, of Cornish, died on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at her home with family at her bedside after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 1, 1925 in Hiram to Margaret Kathleen (Pike) and Clarence Palmer Douglas. She graduated from Fryeburg Academy and received an associate’s degree from Gray’s School of Business in Portland. She married the love of her life, George Denney Hendrick, in August of 1948. She worked at several local businesses over the years while raising her five children. Spending time with family and birdwatching were her most favorite pastimes. She just loved life and every living thing. She lived truly by the Golden Rule as a model of kindness and humility.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years in 2009 and also by her grandson and her great-grandson.

She is survived by her brother, John B. Douglas of Brewer; two sisters, Mary Trickey of Middletown, R.I. and Susan Moulton of Hiram; her children, George D. Hendrick Jr. of Centerburg, Ohio, David L. Hendrick of Parsonsfield, Eva L. “Lucy” Hobbs of Friend, Neb., Susan B. “Babs” Sloan of Friend, Neb. and Douglas D. Hendrick of Annapolis, Md.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
