June Bishop

OTISFIELD — June Evelyn (Cousins) Bishop, 85 passed away on Friday, Nov. 6th, 2015, in Otisfield.

June was born on Aug. 29th, 1930, in Otisfield, to Howard and Gladys (Kimball) Cousins. She was married to David H. Purington from 1948 to 1963, having two children, Gregory and Janet. She was married to Frank M. Bishop in 1964 until his death in 1988, having one child, Mark.

June enjoyed knitting and often knit socks for family members and loved ones. Reading romance novels and watching Western movies were favorite pastimes. Sunday nights at the farm were special, as family, friends and neighbors came by to visit over coffee and desserts. Special memories were made on camping trips with her husband Frank, sister Judith and brother-in-law Thomas, as well as a trip to England with her daughter Janet. For many years, she and her fellow “Kimball Women” made Christmas cookies and candies to share with loved ones — many laughs were had and pounds were gained. She loved having tea with her great-grandchildren, hearing about their adventures.

June is survived by her son, Gregory Purington of Harrison; her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Bruce LeBlanc of Otisfield; her son and son-in-law, Mark Bishop and Richard Weiser of San Francisco, Calif.; her son, Charles Bishop of Georgia; her brothers, Edward Cousins and his wife Barbara, Phil Cousins and his wife Emma; her sister, Judith Schultz and her husband Thomas; her sister-in-law, Kay Cousins; her granddaughters, Jennifer Tardiff, Jessica Griffith, and Erin Purington; her grandson, Chip Bishop; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Tardiff, Brandon Johnston, Patricia Johnston, and Lucy Tardiff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Howard and Gladys Cousins; her brother, Chester Cousins; her sister, Deborah Angwin; and her granddaughter, Amanda Purington.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Linda Annance, Mom’s caregiver.

The family is planning a celebration of June Bishop’s life next August, near her birthday.
