Judy C. Flick

NAPLES — Judy Colleen Flick, 56, of Naples passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1954 in Bridgton, daughter of Marion G. and George B. Lord. She resided in the Bridgton-Naples area her entire life other than a brief time “away” while her husband attended college in Michigan. She graduated from Lake Region High School in 1972 and in August of that year married Gary E. Flick, then of Bridgton.

Judy devoted her entire life caring for others, from babysitting as a pre-teen, to working as a nurse aid to help her husband through college, being an at home mom to three wonderful children, a volunteer in the Lake Region School system, caring for her beloved mother during her final days and being a charter member of the Naples Lions Club. Judy always put others’ needs above her own. While never seeking recognition for any of her endeavors, she was greatly pleased when the Naples Lions Club recently presented her with an honorary lifetime membership in recognition of her service.

Judy overcame adversity and many challenges during her lifetime, from the onset on myotonic muscular dystrophy during her teen years, surviving uterine cancer to recently contracting a severe case of osteoporosis that prevented her from continuing her activities in the Naples Lions Clubs. She took great pride in the success of her children and was instrumental in providing support to her two sons in overcoming their myotonic dystrophy and learning disabilities to graduate from Lake Region High School. During her last two years, those sons assisted her with her daily living needs at home. Her greatest wish was to remain at home with her family.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her three children, Christopher P. Flick and Matthew R. Flick of Naples, and Heather M. Flick of Liverpool, N.Y.; four brothers, Ronald of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Wayne (Butch) of Oak Harbor, Wash., Dale of Sanford and Danny of Naples; and three sisters, Cheryl Lord of Wilton, Bonnie Longley of Casco and Shannon Thompson of Long Island, N.Y.

Visiting hours were Saturday, Dec. 4 at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road, Casco. A private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Naples Lions Scholarship Fund, or Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, 1389 Bridgton Road, Fryeburg, ME, 04037.
