Judith P. James

RANDOLPH — Judith Phyllis Millett James, 69, of Randolph, died after a long battle of lung cancer on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at her home with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Portland on Nov. 17, 1941, the daughter of Clarence and Alberta (Thomes) Millett.

Judy was a 1960 graduate of Bridgton High School. Right out of high school, she entered the Augusta General Hospital’s School of Laboratory Technology. She later earned her degree in Medical Technology from the American Medical Technologists.

She had worked at Gardiner General Hospital from 1963 to 1991, when the hospital became part of the Kennebec Valley Medical Center. She worked at the Augusta location of KVMC, which later became the Maine General Medical Center, from 1991 until she retired in 2006 with 43 years of service.

Her passions included her flowers, pets, family, and the Red Sox. She will be lovingly remembered for her generosity and great sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Glendon Sonny James of Randolph; her two daughters, Michele Meggison of Gorham and Shari Howard of Jefferson; her son, Shawn K. James of Washington, N.H.; four grandchildren; two step-grandsons; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Kenneth Millett of Acton, Mass.; two nieces, a nephew and several cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, where a funeral service will follow on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at 10 a.m.
