PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. — Judith B. Morse, 70, died Nov. 28, 2012 at her home in Pleasantville, N.Y. of pancreatic cancer.

The daughter of the late Arthur and Irene Buckley of Bridgton, Judith was born in New York City and raised in Chappaqua, N.Y. Judy briefly attended Antioch College, but earned her bachelor of arts degree from Columbia University. While a student, she worked at the main branch of the New York Public Library and for the university’s Chemistry Department.

After the birth of her two children and the death of her first husband, Blair McMillin, she worked for Guidance Associates in Pleasantville. She later worked for several trade publishers in New York City, ending her career as manager of contracts, permissions and copyright at Penguin Pearson.

Judy had many interests, including gardening and cooking. She volunteered at the state prison in Otisville, N.Y., was an active Quaker, and served as president of the local League of Women Voters.

She is survived by her husband, Perry; her son, Matthew Ruby; her daughter; Elizabeth Thompson; her sister, Bonnie Frederickson; five grandchildren; and many friends.

There will be a memorial service in the summer in South Bridgton, where the Morse family has a home. Gifts in her memory may be given to the Loon Echo Land Trust.
