Joyce L. Michaud

PORTLAND — Joyce “Jody” Michaud, 77, of Portland passed away on Oct. 7, 2011, surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1934, in Sherman Mills, the daughter of Harold and Florence Buzzell Lane. She was educated as a nurse at Eastern Maine Medical with additional training in New York and Massachusetts.

During her nursing career, she worked at Winchester Hospital, Winchester, Mass., Maine Medical Center, the American Red Cross and Martin’s Point Health Care of Portland.

Jody was a member of the Woodfords Congregational Church. She enjoyed walking, cooking, entertaining, playing cards with her bridge group and spending time at Pine Point Beach with her family and friends.

Family was so important to Jody; she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being a “Hockey Mom” and grandmother. Jody always had a smile on her face and was willing to help out where ever she could. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.

She was predeceased by her first husband, William A. Garner II; her husband and soul mate of 18 years, Raymond A. Michaud; her parents; and her brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Joel.

She will be deeply missed by those who survive her: her sister, Gloria “Lane” Willigar of Crystal; half-sisters, Karen Souza of Naples, and Kendra L. Chisholm of Ellsworth; daughter Sharon E. Milose of Gray; sons Allen F. Garner II of Cumming, Ga. and Mark C. Garner of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepson James Michaud; stepdaughter Karen Michaud; and stepson Kenneth Michaud; and 11 grandchildren.
