WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Joseph Pitts Walker, 59, died on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the White Plains Hospital in White Plains, New York, after a brief illness.

Born in Brookville, Pennsylvania, in 1956 to Elaine Pitts Walker and Robert “Bob” Walker, Joe lived in numerous locations along the East Coast during childhood, but always considered Harrison and North Bridgton his home. During his early elementary years he lived with his family on the campus of Bridgton Academy and again throughout his later high school and college years when his father returned to the Academy as Headmaster. Although he never attended BA, he had deep fondness for the school and the faculty and staff whom he considered “family.”

Joe graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1975, where he was involved in student government and the campus radio station. He earned his BA in Psychology from Bowdoin College in 1979, after which he started his career in Retail Management. He had most recently worked as a Sales Analyst for General Motors in Terrytown, New York.

Joe’s happiest days were the summers he spent on Crystal and Long Lakes in Harrison with his friends and relatives. He loved music, rooted for the Yankees and never gave up on the Redskins.

He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Drummond of Hancock, New Hampshire, brother Robert Walker of Van Nuys, California and his sister Betsy and her husband Rob Drummond of Hillsborough, New Hampshire, along with three nieces.

A spring/summer memorial service will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bridgton Academy Scholarship Fund, PO Box 292, N. Bridgton, ME 04057.
