Joseph Frank, 88

HARRISON — Joseph Frank, 88, of Harrison, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Joseph was born in East Rockaway, N.Y., on Nov. 30, 1925, a son of Samuel and Caroline (Meisner) Frank. He graduated from East Rockaway High School and Oswego State Teachers College. He earned his master’s degree in Education from Hofstra University.

He married Marjorie Moody on July 31, 1948.

An educator for 27 years, Mr. Frank taught Wood Shop at JFK Junior High School in Bethpage, Long Island. He had also taught at Oswego for a short time. He retired from teaching in 1975. In 1976, he and his family relocated to Harrison. A “Jack of all Trades,” Joseph was an avid carpenter and woodworker. He built their home in Harrison from the ground up.

He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a member of the Bridgton Alliance Church, and was known for his witty sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of Harrison; three sons, Gary Frank and his wife, Kim, of Mesa, Ariz., Neal Frank and his wife, Lorraine, of Fryeburg, and Dana Frank and his wife, Peggy, of Harrison; two daughters, Beverly Parker and her husband, Frank, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Lorraine Merkel and her husband, Tom, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Dorothy Moody of East Rockaway, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, at the Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Bridgton Alliance Church.
