Joseph A. Cleaves Jr., 32

Joseph Anthony Cleaves Jr., 32, passed way due to a tragic auto accident Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020.

Joey was a loving father, son, grandson, brother and friend. He is survived by his mother Kelly Villeneuve of Bridgton and father (in name only) Joseph A. Cleaves Sr. of Harrison; four children, Lyric and Remi Cleaves, Ari Cleaves and eight-month old Killian; grandparents Reuben and Pamela Bartlett of Maine; brother, Anthony Cleaves; and sister, Charlie Cleaves.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, William and Veronica Deluca of Massachusetts; and uncles, Anthony and Charles Cleaves of Yarmouth.

Battling his demons and winning was one of his greatest accomplishments. Joey completed his GED in Portland, but has always attended “The School of Hard Knocks.” Joey was very creative and found his love for art at a young age. As an adult, he was able to use his passion to become a tattoo artist. Joey was a hard worker and a master of many crafts including his own tile and construction business. He enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in his ability to complete custom requests.

In his free time, you could find Joey with his closest family and friends. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and looking for new adventures. Its undeniable he had a way with women, though it sometimes got him into trouble. Joey had a gypsy soul and the ability to make a friend anywhere and with anyone. He was thoughtful with a kind heart and would give you the shirt off his back to anyone. He is loved and will be missed by many. Goodbyes are not forever nor are the end, it simply means I’ll miss you, until we meet again.
