John W. MacGregor, 72

GRAY — John Wesley MacGregor, 72, of Summit Road, formerly of Sebago, passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 201, at his home surrounded by family.

He was born in Boston, Mass., on Nov. 25, 1941, a son of the late John and Bernadette (Merrill) MacGregor.

After graduating from Sanford High School in 1958, John went on to proudly serve his country in the US Navy from 1959–1962.

Afterward, John began his career as a professional truck driver. Over the years he worked for companies such as G.W. Jewett, Coles Express, Yarmouth Lumber, and most recently for Irving Oil, from which he retired from in 2010.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid motorcycling enthusiast. John was a member of the NRA and the American Legion.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Rebecca Meader; daughters, Theresa MacGregor of Colo. and Crystal Levesque of Tex.; brother, James “Skip” MacGregor of Parsonsfield; and sister, Kathleen Gerry of Limerick.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by a service with military honors at noon at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Rts. 202 and 4A (13 Portland Road) in Buxton (Bar Mills).
