John (Danforth) Cox IV, 29

PORTLAND — John (Danforth) E. Cox, IV, 29, of Woodstock, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Norway on April 30, 1983, the son of John E. Cox III, and Theresa Andrews. He attended schools in Woodstock, Oxford and Lake Region, graduating from Adult Education at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in 2012. He furthered his education in the nursing field, becoming a certified nurse’s aide (CNA) and a phlebotomist, as well as a mental health rehabilitation counselor. John worked in many nursing homes in and around the area.

He also worked as a millwright at the Seabrook Nuclear Power plant in N.H.

He was owner and operator of Northstar Kennels, where he bred and trained Weimaraner dogs. He traveled all over the Eastern states, entering the dogs in shows. Several of his dogs became champions at these shows.

He loved his family and helped with the care of his great-grandmother, while she was residing with his grandmother, before her death in September of 2011. He was a very caring individual, and took his grandmother and great-grandmother to the casino in Connecticut.

He had many friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his father, John Cox III, of Woodstock; his mother, Theresa Theriault of Waterford; a brother, Joseph Cox of Auburn; a sister, Haleigh Bonney of Norway; his grandparents, Carol Cox of Woodstock, Gary and Lynn Andrews of West Paris, and Laurel Hopper of Oklahoma; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
